Tri Tempo Trio Take on the Brighton Triathlon

Sunday 6th September saw three Tri Tempo athletes head to the Sussex coast to tackle the Brighton Triathlon Sprint distance event, producing some fantastic results despite battling more than just the course conditions.

Representing the club were Jamie Phillips, Rachael Grimes and Simon Grimes, all taking on the popular sprint-distance race, which features a sea swim, fast bike course and a hard-fought run along Brighton's iconic seafront.

Age Group Glory for Jamie

Leading the way for Tri Tempo was Jamie Phillips, who delivered an outstanding performance throughout the race to secure 1st place in his age group and an impressive 14th overall finisher on the day.

Competing against a strong field, Jamie produced a consistently fast swim, bike and run to not only claim the age group victory but also finish well inside the top twenty overall competitors. A fantastic achievement and a well-deserved reward for the hard work put in throughout the season.

Strong Performances from Rachael and Simon

The Grimes household also had plenty to celebrate, with both Rachael and Simon Grimes putting in determined performances on the Brighton course.

Rachael Grimes raced strongly across all three disciplines to finish 5th in her age category, continuing her excellent form and showing great consistency throughout the event.

Meanwhile, Simon Grimes faced a race day that tested more than his fitness and endurance. After discovering a hole in his wetsuit and suffering a broken zip on his tri suit, Simon had to overcome a number of equipment challenges before and during the race. Despite the setbacks, he dug deep and still managed to secure 10th place in his age category, demonstrating the resilience and determination that triathlon often demands.

A Great Day for Tri Tempo

With an age group win, a top-15 overall finish and two strong age category performances, it was another successful weekend for Tri Tempo athletes competing across the South East.

Congratulations to Jamie, Rachael and Simon on representing the club so well and flying the Tri Tempo colours at one of the region's most popular triathlon events.

Well done all!
